To My Swim & Dive Family!

Good Afternoon Swim & Dive Family,

I met with the team this afternoon to share the following information today (2/12/25).

I have been the head coach of Collins Hill High School for the last 26 years and coaching swimming for 36. I have made the difficult decision this year that this was my last season as your coach.

This has truly been one of my favorite seasons and I tip my stopwatch to our senior class which we have been blessed with. Throughout my swimming career I have been coached by many talented coaches. Through those experiences I defined what kind of coach I wanted to become.

My high school coach took the TLC approach (which is what he called it) which meant, Train like warriors, Love like family and Compete like champions. Many of our traditions come from my high school team at Blue Valley North in Kansas, coached by Greg House (aka House of Pain).

I owe so much to him. He never preached about winning titles or championships, but he taught us how to want it for each other. Being a champion, didn’t necessarily mean standing on the podium with a 1st place finish. It meant so much more! Many of my teammates and I are still in contact with each other because of the relationships he helped us build. He taught us how to be a team; which he was a part of, not the leader of. What an incredible gift he gave me as a young athlete and later coach, and I have always strived to pay this forward. By far this past season this team has demonstrated repeatedly this been achieved. To quote our captain, Nick Hall “You just show up for each other!”.

I will still be around coaching summer league, water polo and teaching Math at Collins Hill, so this is not a good-bye. Thank you to all the athletes, parents, administrators and teachers for the support of our program over the years that I have been a part of it. It has been my honor.
